Crowned vs Vegamour: the pricey serum women say feels like glue and still does nothing

Vegamour GRO costs way more than it should, runs out faster than it should, and leaves a lot of women with sticky, greasy, flat hair and no visible change after months. Some say it made their shedding worse. Crowned by Her Part is a water-based leave-on that sinks in clean and gives you fuller, thicker-looking hair. Crowned wins.

Short answer: Vegamour GRO costs way more than it should, runs out faster than it should, and leaves a lot of women with sticky, greasy, flat hair and no visible change after months. Some say it made their shedding worse. Crowned by Her Part is a water-based leave-on that sinks in clean and gives you fuller, thicker-looking hair. Crowned wins.

Fuller, thicker-looking hair without the pills, the drugs or the grease

The bottle is pretty. The ads are soft and hopeful. And then you put it on, look in the mirror, and your roots look like you haven't washed in four days.

We went through 34 negative Vegamour reviews from Amazon, Trustpilot, Reddit and complaint sites. Four complaints kept coming back, and they all point the same way.

Which is better, Crowned or Vegamour?

Crowned. Women say Vegamour feels sticky and leaves their hair flat and greasy. Crowned is water-based. It sinks in fast and leaves your roots clean. Use it every day for fuller, thicker-looking hair you can see in the mirror.

Six months of drops, zero change

"No results" is the top Vegamour complaint by a wide margin. Women describe three months, four months, six months of faithful use and "ZERO improvement." One Amazon reviewer said she tried to post her bad review on Vegamour's own site and it never showed up. Another went back to her hairdresser, who told her to get a prescription because what she was using wasn't working. She wrote that she felt depressed and didn't want to spend another cent.

That's the cruel bit. You picked a serum because you didn't want a drug, and you were left with nothing to show for the wait.

Crowned is built around the ingredients with real hair research behind them: five peptides, four modeled on growth factors studied in the hair cycle, plus saw palmetto and rosemary. Vegamour has neither saw palmetto nor rosemary. The changes with Crowned stack up in an order you can watch in your two-week photos.

Way more expensive than a few drops should be

Price is complaint number two, and it gets worse once women do the math. The small bottle "doesn't last more than 2 weeks," one reviewer wrote. Another said it's fine for "a spot not for a whole head." One watched the price jump from $40 to $60 "overnight." At $139 for three months, you're paying luxury money for something that disappears into the sink.

And the subscription has teeth. Customers describe shipments that went out without the notice they were promised, return fees they never got back, and orders that kept coming after they cancelled.

Crowned is one bottle on your counter, a few drops on the spots that need it, and no surprise math at the end of the month.

Light on your scalp, loud in the mirror

Five peptides, saw palmetto, rosemary and Scutellaria root in a water-based serum that disappears into your scalp. Crowned by Her Part gives you fuller, thicker-looking hair you stop hiding under scarves and good lighting.

"It absolutely shredded my hair"

That line is from a Reddit review, and it's not alone. Women say their shedding got worse, that they lost more hair than before, and that they kept going "way longer than I should have" because they were told shedding is normal. One Amazon reviewer said the serum burned her scalp and hairline, and she lost more hair while using it.

Then there's the trap. Several reviewers say once they stopped, the shed came back harder. One Trustpilot reviewer quit after learning she'd have to keep paying forever to keep what she had, and bought a wig.

Sudden, heavy shedding is worth a doctor's visit to rule out a medical cause. Crowned has no "push through it" speech. It's daily cosmetic care for your scalp, and your photos tell you how it's going.

Glue, sludge and flat, dirty-looking roots

This is the one you notice before breakfast. Women describe Vegamour as feeling "like Elmer's glue," like "sludge," hair "flat on my head" that "looks dirty," and having to wash their hands every time they touch their hair. Even applied right out of the shower, one reviewer said it "leaves a film." On Reddit: "sticky and icky" and "VERY oily."

So you put on a serum to make your hair look fuller, and it glues the strands together so your scalp shows more. That's the opposite of the job.

Crowned is water-based. Water is the first ingredient on the label, there's no oily film, and it sinks into your scalp until you can't feel it. Your roots stay light enough to lift.

The Fingertip Trick

Part your hair where it looks thinnest. Put a few drops of Crowned straight onto the scalp there, then use your fingertips in small, slow circles until the serum disappears. Leave it on. Style as usual, or go to bed. That's the whole routine, once a day, every day, and it's the reason Crowned lands on your scalp instead of in your stomach or all over your pillow.

Crowned by Her Part is water-based (water is the first ingredient on the label) and made with five peptides, four of them modeled on growth factors studied in the hair cycle (aFGF, bFGF, IGF-1 and VEGF) plus a conditioning peptide, along with arginine, saw palmetto, Scutellaria root, rosemary, eucalyptus, soybean germ and wheat germ extracts, and vitamin E.

What the ingredient research shows:

  • Rosemary: in a randomized trial of 100 men with thinning hair, rosemary oil performed on par with 2% minoxidil at six months, with less scalp itching in the rosemary group (Panahi et al., Skinmed, 2015).
  • Saw palmetto: 50 men using topical saw palmetto products had higher average and terminal hair counts at 12 and 24 weeks (Wessagowit et al., Australasian Journal of Dermatology, 2016).
  • Growth-factor peptides: topical FGF-1 and FGF-2 brought on the hair growth phase earlier and kept it going longer in mouse studies (Lin et al., BioMed Research International, 2015).

Verdict: Crowned wins

Vegamour's own customers say it: no visible change after months, a price that climbs, shedding that spiked, and a sticky film that makes thin hair look thinner. Crowned by Her Part is water-based, clean on the roots, and built on five peptides plus saw palmetto and rosemary. For fuller, thicker-looking hair after 50, Crowned is the clear choice. What you'll notice with Crowned, and when

Hair runs on a slow cycle: each strand grows for years, rests for two to three months, then makes way for the next (Paus and Cotsarelis, New England Journal of Medicine, 1999). Crowned is built for that cycle, so the changes stack up in a clear order.

  • From the first days: a light, water-based serum that sinks in, clean roots, and a Fingertip Trick you'll actually look forward to.
  • In the first weeks: hair that feels softer, with more gloss and bounce. Eucalyptus extract in a scalp lotion improved measured gloss and bounce with ongoing use (Mamada et al., Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2008).
  • Over the first two months: more lift at the root and hair that looks thicker where it grows from.
  • Months three to six: fuller-looking coverage where you used to see scalp, a ponytail with weight in it, and photos that look like you again. That's the window the ingredient studies measured: topical saw palmetto at 12 and 24 weeks, rosemary oil at six months.

Take a photo of the top of your head on day one and every two weeks after. Daily use builds the result, and the photos show it.
