Crowned vs Divi: the minty serum that greases your roots and empties your wallet

Short answer: Divi's unhappy customers say the same things over and over: months of use and no visible change, a little bottle that's gone in a week or two, a smell that fills the house, and greasy, matte, dirty-looking roots. Crowned by Her Part is a water-based leave-on that sinks in clean, with five peptides plus saw palmetto, for fuller, thicker-looking hair. Crowned wins.
Fuller, thicker-looking hair without the pills, the drugs or the grease
Crowned by Her Part is a water-based, leave-on peptide scalp serum. A few drops on your thin spots, the Fingertip Trick, and you get on with your day. It sinks in, leaves your roots clean, and builds fuller, thicker-looking hair.
The influencers made it look like magic. Glossy bottle, glowing before-and-afters, that cool tingle on the scalp. Then month four arrived, your hair looked the same, and your bathroom smelled like a mint factory.
We went through 43 negative Divi reviews from Amazon, Ulta threads on Reddit and other sites. Five complaints run through almost all of them.
Which is better, Crowned or Divi?
Crowned. Divi buyers talk of greasy roots, a strong smell and a tiny bottle that runs out fast. Crowned is water-based and sinks in clean, with five peptides and saw palmetto. Use it every day for fuller, thicker-looking hair.

Fifteen months, zero improvement
No visible results is the top Divi complaint, with 27 hits in what we collected. "After 15 months of consistent use... zero improvement." "Used it for three months. Zero outcome." "Consistently for over a year and realized zero results." One reviewer upgraded to the three-month bottle after a month and wrote "4 months later, and NADA."
Another pointed out the fine print herself: the claim is about the look of thicker hair, and she says it didn't deliver that either.
Crowned is built around what Divi skips. Five peptides, four of them modeled on growth factors studied in the hair cycle, plus saw palmetto, which has topical human hair-count data behind it. Divi has no saw palmetto.
A tiny bottle at a price that stings
Price is complaint number two. At $48 for 30 ml, women say the bottle is gone in two weeks, or one week, or "five days." One reviewer said she'd need to buy it twice a month and asked if you're supposed to be rich. Another wrote "this ain't sustainable." Several say they paid for a big bottle and got a small one, or had to pay to return it despite a free-returns promise.
That's a premium price for something you run through before you can even tell if it's doing anything.
Crowned goes on your thin spots only, a few drops at a time, with the Fingertip Trick.
Light on your scalp, loud in the mirror
Five peptides, saw palmetto, rosemary and Scutellaria root in a water-based serum that disappears into your scalp. Crowned by Her Part gives you fuller, thicker-looking hair you stop hiding under scarves and good lighting.
The smell that follows you from room to room
The smell is complaint number three, and some reviews are brutal. One woman could smell it through the outer box, said the whole house smelled once she opened it, and her eyes burned from the next room. Another called it a "rancid" smell that "lasts all day." On Reddit's Ulta threads: "I can't get over the smell."
You want people to notice your hair. You don't want them noticing you smell like a cough drop.
Crowned has no peppermint and no tea tree in the formula.
Greasy roots you have to wash out by morning
Texture is the fourth big complaint. "Made my hair soooo greasy." "I applied it right after I washed my hair. I tossed it immediately." "Makes my hair greasy and look matte and dirty. Scalp build up is unbearable." That reviewer said you have to use it at night and wash it out in the morning or your hair is not presentable.
So the serum that's supposed to make your hair look fuller glues it flat to your head. That's the opposite of what fine hair needs.
Crowned is water-based. Water is the first ingredient, it sinks into your scalp with no film, and your roots stay light enough to lift.
Itchy scalp, more shedding
Divi reviewers also report itchy, irritated, dried-out scalps, and some say their hair fell out more while using it. One describes a painful scalp boil that sent her to the ER. Those are individual reports, and the worst ones are rare. If you're shedding heavily, see a doctor to rule out a medical cause.
If your skin is sensitive, try any new scalp product on a small spot first, Crowned included.
The Fingertip Trick
Part your hair where it looks thinnest. Put a few drops of Crowned straight onto the scalp there, then use your fingertips in small, slow circles until the serum disappears. Leave it on. Style as usual, or go to bed. That's the whole routine, once a day, every day, and it's the reason Crowned lands on your scalp instead of in your stomach or all over your pillow.
Crowned by Her Part is water-based (water is the first ingredient on the label) and made with five peptides, four of them modeled on growth factors studied in the hair cycle (aFGF, bFGF, IGF-1 and VEGF) plus a conditioning peptide, along with arginine, saw palmetto, Scutellaria root, rosemary, eucalyptus, soybean germ and wheat germ extracts, and vitamin E.
What the ingredient research shows:
- Rosemary: in a randomized trial of 100 men with thinning hair, rosemary oil performed on par with 2% minoxidil at six months, with less scalp itching in the rosemary group (Panahi et al., Skinmed, 2015).
- Saw palmetto: 50 men using topical saw palmetto products had higher average and terminal hair counts at 12 and 24 weeks (Wessagowit et al., Australasian Journal of Dermatology, 2016).
- Growth-factor peptides: topical FGF-1 and FGF-2 brought on the hair growth phase earlier and kept it going longer in mouse studies (Lin et al., BioMed Research International, 2015).
Verdict: Crowned wins
Divi's own customers report months with no visible change, a bottle that empties way too fast for the price, an overpowering smell and greasy, matte roots. Crowned by Her Part is water-based, sinks in clean and brings five peptides plus saw palmetto and rosemary. For fuller, thicker-looking hair after 50, Crowned is the clear choice. What you'll notice with Crowned, and when
Hair runs on a slow cycle: each strand grows for years, rests for two to three months, then makes way for the next (Paus and Cotsarelis, New England Journal of Medicine, 1999). Crowned is built for that cycle, so the changes stack up in a clear order.
- From the first days: a light, water-based serum that sinks in, clean roots, and a Fingertip Trick you'll actually look forward to.
- In the first weeks: hair that feels softer, with more gloss and bounce. Eucalyptus extract in a scalp lotion improved measured gloss and bounce with ongoing use (Mamada et al., Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2008).
- Over the first two months: more lift at the root and hair that looks thicker where it grows from.
- Months three to six: fuller-looking coverage where you used to see scalp, a ponytail with weight in it, and photos that look like you again. That's the window the ingredient studies measured: topical saw palmetto at 12 and 24 weeks, rosemary oil at six months.
Take a photo of the top of your head on day one and every two weeks after. Daily use builds the result, and the photos show it.
