Ingredient facts come from Cecred's own product page and its Ulta listing, read October 22, 2026.
Perfume you rub into your scalp
Cecred's ingredient list shows Fragrance/Parfum and linalool. Ulta names the scent: Temple Oud, with oud, sandalwood, musk, jasmine and vetiver. That's a perfume list, and it goes on the skin of your head every day.
Women notice. On Reddit, one wrote that it "felt like I was applying perfume to my scalp." Another said the drops and oil "both have really intense fragrance." One woman said her dermatologist told her to stop Cecred during a scalp flare because of the linalool. Another said linalool gave her mild contact dermatitis, and it cleared once she quit. Doctors list fragrances among the most reported causes of skin contact allergy (Sukakul and colleagues, 2024).
Crowned has no added fragrance on its label. No parfum and no linalool. Your scalp gets the serum and nothing it doesn't need.
Itchy, red, flaking hairlines
The posts are hard to read. One woman used the drops from January to March 2026. She described "extreme dryness" on her hairline, white flakes and redness that came back a day after every wash. She said she emailed support many times and they never answered.
Another woman found a red patch on day three. Another said her scalp was "really itchy" two to three weeks in. One said the drops "caused my edges to get really dry and break off." If your scalp burns, flakes or turns red, stop the product and see a dermatologist.
Shedding and bald spots
This is the one that stings. One woman wrote, "I lost hair very quickly after starting the drops. Within two weeks to be exact." Another said she woke up with "a HUGE RANDOM Bald spot" the day after using them on her edges. A third found bald spots at her braid take down after starting the drops and the line's shampoo and conditioner.
Some of these women blamed the protein. Cecred's bottle carries a hydrolyzed wool keratin ferment, rice protein and biotin. Hair that doesn't like protein can turn dry and snap. Sudden shedding or bald spots deserve a doctor's visit to rule out a medical cause.
A serum that stays out of your way
Five peptides, saw palmetto and rosemary in one light, water-based serum. No added fragrance on the label. Crowned by Her Part gives you fuller, thicker-looking hair with one minute a day.
A big claim from 31 people
Cecred sells the drops on "1.5x visibly denser hair." The fine print says it's a third-party consumer study. Space NK's listing spells it out: 31 people, once a day, for 16 weeks. That's a small group, and the bottle costs $56 for a 30-day supply.
Two of Cecred's peptides, acetyl tetrapeptide-3 and biotinoyl tripeptide-1, are the same ones sold inside the Capixyl and Procapil blends. We cover where their proof comes from in Redensyl, Capixyl and Procapil. And the biotin on the label? Read why biotin didn't change your mirror.
Why Crowned wins for thin hair
Crowned is water-based. Water is the first thing on the label. It sinks in fast and leaves your roots clean. It has no perfume and no wool protein.
Inside are five peptides. Four are modeled on growth factors studied in the hair cycle: aFGF, bFGF, IGF-1 and VEGF. Both bottles list IGF-1 and VEGF types. Only Crowned adds the aFGF and bFGF pair. In mouse studies, topical FGF-1 and FGF-2 started the hair growth stage sooner and kept it going longer (Lin et al., 2015).
Then come the plants Cecred skips. In a trial of 100 men with thinning hair, rosemary oil did as well as 2% minoxidil at six months (Panahi et al., 2015). Topical saw palmetto raised hair counts in 50 men at 12 and 24 weeks (Wessagowit et al., 2016). See the full list under what's inside.
As of 2026, Crowned is made for women with thinning hair and ships only in the US. Sensitive skin? Try it on a small spot first, like any new skin care.
Cecred vs The Ordinary hair serum
Lots of women weigh these two. Cecred reviewers complain of strong scent and itchy scalps. The Ordinary's reviewers complain of oily roots they wash out every morning. See the full breakdown in Crowned vs The Ordinary. Crowned skips both problems.
The Fingertip Trick
Comb a line where your hair looks thinnest. Put a few drops of Crowned right on the scalp there. Now use your fingertips. Rub in small, slow circles until the serum is gone. Leave it on. Style your hair like always, or go to bed. That's one minute a day.
Your fingertips push the serum down onto your scalp, where your hair grows. A dropper alone leaves it sitting on top of your hair. Full steps are in how to apply scalp serum. Do it every single day.
What you'll see at Day 30, 60 and 90
Hair grows on a slow clock. Each strand grows for years, rests for two to three months, then falls out so a new one can start (Paus and Cotsarelis, 1999). Crowned works with that clock, so the wins stack up in order.
- Day 30: Your hair feels softer. It has more shine and more lift at the root. Your scalp feels calm.
- Day 60: Your hair looks thicker where it grows from. You see less scalp under bright light.
- Day 90: Fuller-looking coverage where you used to see scalp. Your part looks narrower in photos.
Use it every day. Do that, and by Day 90 the mirror shows it.
What you'll catch yourself saying
"My scalp doesn't itch, and my hair doesn't smell like a store."
"My roots look full and clean."
"I quit hiding the top of my head in photos."
